What We do
In many countries, individuals and whole people groups are subject to discrimination, oppression, and violence by opposing ethnic groups or public authorities. Many people are murdered, leaving behind neglected and vulnerable families. Many more are seriously injured, both physically and psychologically. Elsewhere, the oppression may be more subtle through years of discrimination and neglect. In many other places, unjust cycles of poverty leave many people without any form of healthcare.

There are many individuals and organisations doing amazing work to bring hope in such circumstances. But, in a world of compassion fatigue and media selectivity, many of these stories fail to surface or catch the public imagination. MAI’s aim is to empower some of them, especially where a small investment in primary healthcare capacity can bring such enormous benefits

We evaluate all potential Partners and projects with the following Christian values in mind:

the dignity of human life: all human life is to be respected and valued

the equality of persons: every individual has value and significance and is to be treated equally, irrespective of race, creed, gender or class

compassion: unconditional love and empathy are at the heart of our work

partnership: the guiding mode of operation is to partner with indigenous providers of healthcare so as to avoid dependency and stimulate mutual learning and development

integrity: MAI seeks to be open and transparent in all its activities

sustainability: MAI looks to advise partners on sustainable practice and to consider the economic viability of projects in the long term, after our funding ceases

MAI seeks to establish genuine Partnerships based on common values, mutual respect and learning. Most Partnerships are based on an initial three year commitment with a review process built in, with the possibility of a defined extension period. However, we expect that a clear agreement about self-sufficiency within a clear timetable will be in place.

It is a joy to personally recommend this excellent project. The Executive Director spoke at our Sunday service recently in the UK.
